A missing tooth is rarely just a cosmetic problem. Over time, the neighbouring teeth tilt towards the gap, the opposing tooth grows towards it, the chewing load is redistributed, and with greater tooth loss even the pronunciation of certain sounds changes. That is why prosthetic treatment at the Čeović practice is planned from the bite outwards: first they work out how the restoration will function, and only then how it will look.
The practice is located in Malešnica, Zagreb, and runs as a family-style group practice. Four ways to replace a lost tooth
Fixed and removable prosthetics address different situations. This is a rough guide — the final recommendation is made only after an examination and an X-ray.
Crown
A fixed restoration that covers a prepared tooth or is placed on an implant. It restores the shape and strength of a tooth damaged by trauma or extensive decay, or one that has lost structure after root canal treatment.
Dental bridge
Two or more connected crowns that bridge the gap, supported by the neighbouring teeth or by implants. It is made of zirconia, all-ceramic or porcelain-fused-to-metal, depending on the position and load.
Denture
A solution for greater tooth loss or a completely toothless jaw; where only a few teeth are missing, a partial denture is made. Today it is most often made as an implant-retained overdenture — it holds firmly but can be removed for easier cleaning.
Implant
A titanium post that takes over the role of the root, so the healthy neighbouring teeth don't need to be prepared. It can replace one tooth, several teeth or a whole jaw. The practice places implants from MIS and Nobel Biocare.
A toothless jaw: teeth in a day
For completely toothless jaws, the practice uses the All-on-4 technique, in which a full arch of teeth is supported by four implants. The advantage is time: as a rule, the patient gets their teeth on the same day the implants are placed. The same applies to single implants — they can be loaded immediately if sufficient primary stability has been achieved. When more support is needed, a hybrid bridge on six implants (All-on-6) is made.
Crowns and bridges are made of zirconia, all-ceramic and porcelain-fused-to-metal. The choice of material is not just a question of price: front teeth need translucency and a true-to-life shade, while back teeth above all need to withstand chewing forces.

Frequently asked questions
Can I choose an implant if I'm only missing one tooth?
Yes, and it is often the most conservative option. With a bridge, the neighbouring teeth have to be prepared to support the structure; if those teeth are healthy and have no other reason to be crowned, an implant leaves them untouched.
How long does the whole process take?
It depends on the solution. A crown or bridge is made over several visits. With implants, in some cases the restoration is fitted on the same day; otherwise you wait for the implant to fuse with the bone. You will get a realistic schedule only after an examination and X-ray.
Is a denture the only option if I have no teeth at all?
No. Apart from a conventional denture, there are implant-retained overdentures and fixed hybrid bridges such as All-on-4 or All-on-6. The difference is felt most in stability when chewing and in how much of the palate is covered.

From Zagrebačka avenija: at the Antunović hotel turn right towards Špansko, then right again past the karting centre and the Opel showroom into Gustava Krkleca street. After three sets of traffic lights, turn left at the fourth into I. B. Mažuranić street — the practice is at number 20.
From Ilica: turn left onto Kožinčev put, then right at the first traffic lights towards Malešnica, into Ivane Brlić Mažuranić street. The practice is just past the first junction with traffic lights.
By public transport
From Črnomerec: tram 2, 6 or 11 to the terminus, then bus 136 towards Malešnica/Špansko. Get off at the stop in Ivane Brlić Mažuranić street; the practice is right next to the stop.
From the wider city centre: bus 146 from Reljkovićeva street to the same stop in Malešnica.
